A hotel development which is part of the Novena Planning Area, an urban planning zone by the Urban Redevelopment Authority, was being built at the junction of Balestier Road and Irrawaddy Road.
Hotel Ibis Singapore Novena was designed to be made up of one block of 10-storey, part 6-storey and part 2-storey.
The contractor used a variety of PERI formwork systems for its construction. CB 240 Climbing System was used for core walls, ST100 Stacking Tower for slabs and the VARIO GT 24 Girder Wall formwork system for the walls of the hotel.
By using PERI's formwork systems, the contractor was able to increase their productivity and save on manpower costs. "We were able to cast 4 walls in one day with the longest wall measuring 6.7m. If we were to use conventional formwork which have more accessories, it would have taken twice as much time", said Mr Goh Choong Wei Aazac, the Project Engineer for Kienta Engineering & Construction Pte Ltd.
The hotel opened its doors to guests in April 2011.
