Jotun (Singapore) Pte Ltd a producer and supplier of paints and coatings has built a warehouse cum customer service centre at Tuas View Crescent.
As the column height for this project could go up to 14m, the sub-contractor Siong Heng Construction chose to use PERI's reliable and cost-effective VARIO GT 24 Column formwork system to cast the columns.
"Besides being less productive, it would have been very difficult and dangerous to use conventional formwork to cast columns with a height of 14m", said Mr Liow Tow Soing, Director of Siong Heng Construction.
The project used the VARIO GT 24 Girder Wall formwork system to cast the walls of the warehouse. "We have been able to cast a 10m x 8m wall in 4 days," added Mr Liow.
When asked what was his impression after using PERI's formwork systems? Mr Liow replied without hesitation that "PERI is good to use as it is faster, cleaner and saves labour. It is also more environment-friendly unlike conventional formwork where there is alot of wastage."
Jotun's new facility was expected to be ready in the 4th quarter of 2010.
"PERI formwork system is not only faster and less labour intensive, it is also more environment-friendly as there is less wastage of materials unlike conventional formwork."
